It's a girl - 'delighted' Kelly announces she's expecting with retired rugby star Thom Evans

March 17, 2011

Kelly Brook took to Twitter on Wednesday night to make a shock announcement – she's expecting her first baby. The 31-year-old beauty is starting a family with her new boyfriend, Thom Evans.

"Thom and I are happy to announce we are expecting a baby girl. We are delighted XXXX," wrote the model and actress. Kelly has been seeing former Scotland international rugby player Thom for four months. They were first spotted together at Kelly's birthday celebrations in late November in London. Twenty-five-year-old Thom – who was born in Zimbabwe - is a former team-mate of Kelly's ex Danny Cipriani. The two men played for the London Wasps from 2004 – 2006 together. Danny is still good friends with both of the couple, and Kelly has told him about the new arrival. "Kelly told me in January that she was expecting," said Danny "I'm really happy for her - she will be a great mum."

Unfortunately Thom's rugby career came to an early end after a spinal injury which he sustained during a Rugby Union match last year. He was hospitalised – and almost paralysed after colliding with another player in February 2010. After a series of operations he decided to retire from the game five months later. Thom apparently has aspirations to become an action movie star. He has been taking acting lessons in LA, where he has been living with Kelly since January. The brunette beauty has been in the States since the start of this year working on a number of campaigns, including her swimwear range for New Look and a collection of Reebok trainers she's put her name to. Kelly's profile has risen in the US since she starred in horror spoof Piranha: 3D last year.
