Launching a film he funded, produced and starred in meant that Brad Pitt may have needed all the support he could get. And Angelina Jolie, 35, stood proudly by her man as he attended the premiere of his new cinematic venture Tree Of Life in Cannes.
The brunnette beauty had pulled out all the stops for the launch. Stunning in a chocolate-hued, side-ruched Versace Atelier gown, she held the 47-year-old's hand as he prepared for the first viewing of the film. Earlier in the day, it had been met with a divided reaction when shown to the press.
In the art house movie, Brad plays a strict father of three sons being raised in Fifties suburbia. Considering his real-life role as a father of six children, he talked about how he debated accepting the part. "I think about everything I do now my kids are going to see when they grow up and how are they going to feel but they know me as a dad and I hope they'll just think of me as a pretty damn-good actor."
He stars alongside Sean Penn in the film, who is looking back on his childhood as an adult.
And as he greeted Brad on the red carpet, the actor joked: "Here's daddy". The two Hollywood actors posed with co-star Jessica Chastain, who plays the mother in the film.
