Ryan Giggs has made his first public appearance since being named as the footballer at the centre of a super-injunction row. Still wearing his wedding band, the 37-year-old arrived at Manchester United's home ground to take part in a testimonial match for his teammate Gary Neville on Tuesday. He gave a thumbs up as he made his entrance before taking to the field in the game against Juventus alongside current and former United stars, including David Beckham.Ryan looked strained following John Hemming's revelation in Parliament 24 hours earlier.
The Labour MP used his parliamentary privilege to identify him as the Premiership star who used a gagging order to hide a six-month affair with Imogen Thomas.Ryan's wife Stacey was not at Tuesday's game. She was seen at Old Trafford on Sunday with the couple's two children Libby and Zach, helping her husband celebrate Manchester United winning the Premier League. And on Wednesday of last week, the 32-year-old brunette stepped out with the £80,000-a-week star for the club's 2011 Player of the Year Awards.
But following the injunction revelation, Stacey (pictured) is said to be spending time apart from her husband. She was seen leaving the couple's gated home on Tuesday without her wedding ring.
Meanwhile, PR guru Max Clifford – acting as a publicist for Welsh Big Brother contestant Imogen – has said that Ryan's affair might never have come to light had the footballer not taken out an injunction.
He said that Miss Thomas, 28, had never intended to sell her story, and that had Ryan not sought to gag the press through the courts, "we probably wouldn’t know what had been going on."
