Junior boyband New Bounce stole the show on the second semi-final of Britain's Got Talent, impressing with their great stage presence and cool moves. Aged between 12 and 16, they wowed the judges and audience, who gave them a standing ovation. And the slick routine also landed them a spot as one of the four acts in Saturday's grand final.
Even Simon Cowell was won round, hailing them as "the ones to beat". "This is the first time in two days I have seen something, an act, which I genuinely believe will actually be successful in the real world," enthused the tough TV boss. His fellow judges David Hasselhoff and Michael McIntyre were also full of praise. Having initially voted against the boys, the exuberant former Baywatch star changed his tune and declared "You could win this competition".
The four youngsters couldn’t hide their delight and astonishment at sailing through to the finals when they'll be competing to win £100,000. Another act through to the final is keyboard player Jean Martyn. The vivacious blonde in a zany pink checked jacket thrilled the judges with a medley of hits and endearing antics. And the entertainment didn't stop there. Amanda Holden got out from behind the judges' desk to perform with the cast of West End musical Shrek, in which she's been starring. The TV favourite changed from her glitzy floor-length nude and metallic gown and reappeared as Princess Fiona, complete with the fairlytale green dress and tiara. Obviously totally at home in the role, she launched into I'm A Believer, a Monkees number featured in the muscial. Her rendition prompting Simon to admit: "This is really, really annoying but you were actually quite good." But in keeping with the banter typical of their relationship, he did get a dig in at her - telling the actor in the role of Shrek: "You're a better singer than your wife".
