Bradford entrepreneur Ellie Reed ended her run on reality show, The Apprentice on Wednesday, when Lord Alan Sugar made the decision to axe her along with the team’s project manager, Vincent Disneur, after their ‘Everydog’ pet food project failed to get tails wagging.Despite leaving the show Ellie, 33, told HELLO!, that she had no regrets. "The experience has been really uplifting," she revealed, adding that there were many “hysterical” moments behind the scenes.“When we were all having to make animal noises for our iPhone App task, I was in tears of laughter for most of the day," she said.
Ellie says that despite coming to verbal blows with Felicity and Vincent during the series, many of the contestants have become close friends off-screen. "I’ve had a great time and met a lot of interesting characters.”“I have had some major high points and the response at home’s been really positive. I went for a night out in Leeds and people were coming up to me and saying ‘good on you for giving it to Vince’ after I said what I said. "It’s funny and quite strange to watch it back. I didn’t realise how many one-liners I had, though not intentionally. I didn’t realise how northern I was,” she laughs.“I’d like either Melody, Natasha or Helen to win the series. They’re all strong women. They’re all very motivated, dedicated and I think they’re great people.”Ellie says she has great respect for Lord Sugar’s team, but is eager to get back to reality and concentrate on her two businesses, which include a construction industry recruitment company.
“Nick [Hewer] was great. I’ve got a lot of respect for him; he is a witty guy. I’ve learned to be thankful for what I’ve got. I’m quite content to go back to that and drive it forward.”Reflecting on Lord Sugar’s decision to fire both contestants, Ellie admits she would have liked an extra week in the show to prove herself.“I do think he should have just fired Vince,” she admits. “I was a real team player and maybe my downfall was that I didn’t push myself into the limelight enough, but I’m glad I was myself: I was genuine, worked hard, didn’t backstab anyone and just got on with what was asked of me. "It’s just a bit disappointing that I came out as early as I did. I would’ve liked a chance to be project manager, and regret that I wasn’t more forceful in trying to get the position.”
