Anyone who hadn’t already been told the happy news, might have guessed that Lily Allen was pregnant as her exquisite lace bridal gown just showed the slight beginnings of a baby bump. The Smile songstress finally got her happy ending as it was revealed to the surprise and delight of guests at her wedding reception that she is more than 12 weeks gone.

Coming just months after she lost a baby boy six months into a previous pregnancy, it was the perfect finishing touch to Saturday’s beautiful country celebration. The rain held off just long enough for the pop star to exchange vows with building boss Sam Cooper, 33, in Gloucestershire.

Lily, 26, arrived at the church of St James the Great in the village of Cranham, beaming with happiness, on the arm of her comedian father Keith.

She paused for a few minutes to allow her picture to be taken and acknowledge well-wishers hoping to catch a glimpse of her in all her finery.

Her dress created by French designer Delphine Manivet, featured long lace sleeves, a lace overlay and sweetheart neckline. Lily had accessorised with a vintage style headdress and a bouquet featuring country blooms. She also carried puppets in the shape of cricket players in a nod to her and Sam’s shared passion. Her young bridesmaids wore shorter versions of her own gown, while her older attendants, including presenter Miquita Oliver, were lovely in nude-coloured dresses. Guests included her actor brother Alfie and sister Sarah Owen, with whom she has a vintage fashion boutique. And comedian Harry Enfield, her mother’s ex-partner who helped raise her, described the day as “very emotional”. Afterwards, the overjoyed newlyweds were driven to a ‘cricket tea’ reception in their £3 million home through lanes decorated with balloons and signs in old-fashioned script that read ‘L & S’.
