'They're saying I'm single,' jokes Marc during first post-split appearance

July 18, 2011

Marc Anthony put on a brave face as he took to the stage for the first time since splitting from his wife of seven years Jennifer Lopez. He smiled, danced and flirted with women in the audience, playfully telling the huge crowd: “They’re saying I’m a single man”. This joke was met with cheers and applause at the concert in Bogota, Colombia.

He blew kisses at girls in the crowd, and even pointed out one female fan, calling her “Mamacita”, which roughly translates as “Hot Mama”. As the crowd chanted “Mamacita”, he told her: “You’re so beautiful”. Meanwhile, Jennifer’s stylist Phillip Bloch has spoken about the split in an exclusive interview. “This is not a surprise,” he said. “Marc is very controlling. In the beginning she liked that because he stood up to her, and in the early days he was very much in love with her and she was with him.”

But the cracks apparently started to show soon after Jennifer’s mother moved into their house in New York to help look after their newborn twins. “The other problem was that they couldn’t agree where to live. “J-Lo’s career is in Hollywood and she wanted to live in their Malibu mansion and Marc loved New York. “She was going to move to New York in a last-ditch effort to save the marriage, but last Monday I heard it was all over.”
