Following speculation that they had called off their engagement, Sarah Harding's DJ love Tom Crane has confirmed they have "decided to take a break."
The message on his Twitter page ends: "I have nothing else to say".
The 29-year-old Girls Aloud singer is said to have flown last week to Ibiza – where Tom has been working over the summer - to try and save the relationship. But ultimately they have decided to take some time out to reflect, nine months after Tom asked for her hand.
It's not the first time they've had relationship troubles - they split briefly in 2008 - so fans of the couple will no doubt be hoping that the wedding could still go ahead. The pair have shifted their date back several times after Tom proposed on New Year's Eve, surprising his girlfriend on a romantic holiday to the Maldives. "From about three years into our relationship, I think we both knew we would get married one day," Sarah told HELLO! shortly after getting engaged. "But when the moment came, I wasn’t expecting it at all. And although Tom stumbled over his words a little, I loved that because it was really sweet and heartfelt. He hadn’t rehearsed a big speech - he was saying how he really felt.
"The couple - They started dating in 2007 shortly after Sarah split from celebrity journalist Joe Mott - had talked about tying the knot before. Tom told how, in the end, his decision to propose was prompted by a ring they’d seen in a jeweller’s on the island earlier that day.
"I knew Sarah wanted a central sapphire with diamonds," he revealed. "There we were, about to see in a new year in the most romantic place I’ve ever visited, and we spot this beautiful ring. I figured it had to be fate." He made an excuse to disappear long enough to buy the ring, which he kept hidden in his pocket until the moment was right to pop the question. Although she loved the ring - which was in the style of the one Prince William gave the Duchess of Cambridge, she didn't feel it was unique enough. She had it "blinged up", having extra diamonds added and the shape of the sapphire altered slightly.
Sarah isn't the only Girls Aloud star with relationship worries. Her colleague Nadine Coyle called off her engagement to American footballer Jason Bell in June.
Meanwhile Cheryl Cole's woes are well documented.
She divorced Ashley Cole last year, and was reportedly on the brink of giving him another chance when claims he had been romancing other women while trying to get back with her emerged.
