The elegant business executive has, however, signed a short legal document, giving up the right to make any claim on the trust funds of his children and grandchildren. His divorce from Heather stipulates he must protect the trust of Beatrice, their seven-year-old daughter. Macca is expected to marry Nancy, the woman whom he recently referred to as 'his comfort blanket', in the next few weeks in what they say will be 'a small family affair'. The paper tells how the couple arrived hand in hand to post notice of the wedding on Wednesday at Marylebone Register Office in London – where he wed his beloved first wife Linda. In the banns, the 69-year-old is listed as James Paul McCartney and his profession is described as 'business executive'. Nancy, a millionaire from her family's trucking business, is named as an 'executive'. Legally, they have one year from October 1 to marry.

The banns give his address as the St John's Wood pad he bought for £40,000 in 1965. His 51-year-old fiancée is listed as living at the address near Abbey Road Studios and Lord's cricket ground for just nine days.

After their marriage, the new Sir Paul and Lady McCartney will divide their time between the London house and his 933-acre estate in East Sussex.
