'Dancing on Ice' star Laura Hamilton shares engagement joy with HELLO!

October 24, 2011

Television presenter Laura Hamilton announces that she is engaged to boyfriend Alex Goward in an exclusive interview and photoshoot with HELLO! magazine. The Dancing on Ice star accepted the proposal – which came as a complete surprise – from her broker boyfriend earlier this month. "Alex handed me a magnificent bouquest of lilies and roses," she explains of the proposal, which took place in the Surrey home they share.

"He said, 'I’ve got something else to give you,' and pulled open a velvet box from his blazer pocket and flipped it open. "And she says she was stunned by his romantic gesture. "I just screamed 'Oh my God! Oh my God! Alex was saying, 'Are you going to answer me? And I said, 'Yes! Yes! Yes,' and literally jumped into his arms. "And the surprises weren’t over yet. Laura, who was recently named as the new presenter for Channel 4 property show A Place in the Sun, was then whisked off to a beautiful celebratory dinner at a top London hotel. "All the staff were in on it," she says. "We were leaving our table after a delicious dinner in the restaurant, when we were shown to the Corfu Suite, which had been decorated with strawberries and champagne, tea lights and orchids."

The couple are now planning their wedding for next September, as well as their honeymoon. "We’re both adrenalin junkies," she says. "We love skiing and skydiving. My mind is always racing. Alex is fantastic at getting me to calm down and relax.
