Following the shock announcement Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce, both the reality star and Kris Humphries have spoken out.But they're clearly not on the same page.
While Kim released a statement saying that they "remain friends and wish each other the best," Kris has told of his shock and surprise.
He also spoke of his desire to fight for their relationship. "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce," he said on Monday. "I'm committed to this marriage – and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work." Meanwhile, 31-year-old Kim – spotted for the first time since the announcement without her wedding ring – was decisive as she released a statement through
E! Television Network. "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," she said. "I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best." The statements come after Kim's reality show producer, Ryan Seacrest, broke the news on Twitter. "Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning," he wrote on Monday. "I touched base with her."
According to TMZ, the 31-year-old has hired celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser and will cite the usual "irreconcilable differences." There had been much speculation over the last few weeks about the state of Kim's marriage after she turned up solo to a number of red carpet events. On Saturday night she hosted a Halloween party on her own, saying as she was only in New York for a night, her husband had not accompanied her. "Something I really prepared Kris for [was] to let him know that no matter what we do, there's going to be rumors," she told US publication People. "It used to really upset me and now I don't even think about it." Six months into their relationship Kris, 26, went down on one knee. He surprised his girlfriend with a 20.5-carat diamond ring specially designed for his future bride, saying: "I just knew I wanted it to be big."
