Adele on the road to recovery after throat op

December 8, 2011

In her first sighting since undergoing throat surgery, British songstress Adele is looking healthy and happy. Beaming widely as she's enveloped in a hug by a friend, the singer seems to be enjoying a speedy recovery. Before the procedure to fix a haemorrhaged vocal chord, reports suggested she was afraid her powerhouse voice would never be the same.

But after the November 7 operation, the singer told fans via her website that she was "doing really well". "The operation was a success and I’m just chilling out now until I get the all-clear from my doctors," she added.

It tops off a fantastic year for the 23-year-old who won critical and commercial acclaim with her album 21, which spanned instant classics like Rolling In The Deep. And last week brought the news that the album had set the diva up for six Grammy nominations. Meanwhile, the Chasing Pavements singer’s tour rider has been leaked. And the document – which lists artist's requests for their dressing room– was pretty much in keeping with Adele's down-to-earth persona. Along with cigarettes, lighters and chewing gum, the most extravagant item on the list was a petition for the "very best quality red wine". No doubt she will be raising a glass or two to her health and recovery.
