She's the Queen of Country, but that didn't stop Dolly Parton taking to the stage with some of soul's biggest voices. Joined by stars such as Queen Latifah, Mary J Blige and Jessie J, the diminutive US singer belted out her hits during a night of collaborations to celebrate VH1 Divas.
Despite the friendly atmosphere, the girls lived up to their high maintenance reputation in the fashion stakes. Mary J glittered in elegant white, while Dolly and Jessie J battled competed for the title of sequin queen with their trademark spangled togs. The night was celebrating the beauty of soul music and included performances by Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson as well as Boyz II Men and the legendary Chaka Khan.
There was also a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. Florence Welch, of Florence + the Machine, led the homage by covering Amy's classic ballad, Back to Black. "She was the most incredible artist" she said, before adding that she felt "overwhelmed" by her performance. The special will air on VH1 on Monday December 19.
