Katy Perry 'grateful' for fans' support amid divorce crisis

January 9, 2012

Katy Perry has maintained a gracious silence since it was revealed that her husband Russell Brand had filed for divorce. But now the singer has taken to Twitter to thank her supporters, and to warn them not to pay attention to the feverish speculation generated by the separation. She wrote: "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again".

With over 13 million people following her on the micro blogging site, the California Girls singer must be taking solace from her extensive fan base. The pop princess also had some strong words for those commenting on her situation. "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family" she said. The post came after the brunette's parents, Keith and Mary Hudson, who are devout Christians and both pastors, mentioned her split during church services. Katy is scheduled to make her first public appearance since the split at the People's Choice Awards on January 11.
