Final curtain call: 18,000 fans to celebrate Whitney's life

February 14, 2012

Tragic singer Whitney Houston has finally come home, after her hearse arrived in her native New Jersey on Monday night. And reports suggest that her family are planning the ultimate tribute with a funeral befitting the diva with the golden voice. They are considering holding her send off at Newark's Prudential Centre, a venue with a capacity of 18,000.

As well as Whitney's loved ones, Friday's ceremony will, no doubt, also be attended by some of the biggest stars in music. Following an outpouring of tributes at the Grammy awards, the I Will Always Love You singer's death continues to send ripples of shockwaves through the entertainment world. Jennifer Hudson, who led Grammy homages with a heartfelt rendition of Whitney's biggest hit, has opened up about the loss of the woman who inspired her. "I haven't stopped crying since she passed. Her family is in my prayers."

Meanwhile, everyone is waiting to find out exactly how the world was robbed of such a great talent. It was initially thought that Whitney had drowned in the bath, but officials from the LA coroner's office have said that additional tests are needed.  This means it could be another six to eight weeks before the truth is known.
