Susan Boyle had a flipping great time this week – but it was all in the name of charity. The Britain's Got Talent megastar showed off some impressive pancake-tossing skills as she turned chef for a day.
Susan joined Cardinal Keith O'Brien – the leader of the Catholic Church in Scotland – and catering students at St Augustine's High School in Edinburgh. She also revealed she was giving up chocolate for Lent. The choir singer turned global superstar was raising awareness of the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund's (Sciaf) Wee Box, Big Change fundraising campaign. It calls on people to give up their favourite treat during Lent and put the money they save in a Sciaf "wee box". The cash is then used to help tackle poverty in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Other Scottish celebs such as actor Robert Carlyle, entrepreneur Michelle Mone and Old Firm managers Neil Lennon and Ally McCoist are also taking part in the campaign.
Susan said: "Sciaf and its work with people living in poverty in developing countries is really close to my heart and always has been. I'm happy that I'm now in a position to help them more than I used to be able to. "It's going to be really tough giving up chocolate for Lent again, so it was great to tuck into a small feast with the young people today. It's been great fun and I know every penny raised from the Wee Box, Big Change campaign will help people in need. "Sciaf said the money raised will provide seeds, tools and training for farmers, and education and skills training to people in some of the poorest countries in the world.
