Brit Awards host, James Corden, has commented on how "upset" he was at having to cut off Adele during her acceptance speech. The comedian said he had been told to move in before he did - just after the singer had said "thank you" - but told the producers he couldn't.
James told Richard Bacon on BBC Radio 5 Live: "The whole room was on its feet and they (the producers) said 'you've got to do it now'. "And then essentially it was just such a surreal moment and everything you can hear in your ear is about five people having an argument and there's one overriding voice saying 'James, you have to'." The comedian posted on Twitter after the show: "Thanks so much for your messages. It was a great night. Can't believe i was told to cut off the amazing Adele at the end. #Livetvnightmare"
Lily Allen has also used the social network to voice her feelings. She blasted Brit Award organisers for cutting off the Rolling in the Deep singer's acceptance speech. The new mum said the decision to order the songstress to wrap up moments after she arrived on stage to collect the best album prize was "sexist". "I can't say I'm surprised. It was like the music industry's attitude to women played out as a metaphor." Adele picked up the best British female prize in addition to best album for 21 and her wins came little over a week after she collected six prizes at the US Grammys. But the singer was so frustrated by being cut off in her prime that she aimed a one finger gesture at "the suits" who ordered her off.
