Dick Van Dyke's publicist has said the 86-year-old actor is a very happy newlywed. Publicist Bob Palmer said Dick and makeup artist Arlene Silver, 40, were married last week in a small Leap Day ceremony at a Malibu chapel near the star's home. Members of Arlene's family and some of the Mary Poppins star's close friends were on hand for the service.
Dick's publicist said the actor and his new wife became friends about five years ago after meeting at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Michelle Triola Marvin, Dick's partner of 30 years, died in October 2009 at 76.He was previously married from 1948 to 1984 to Margie Willett, the mother of his four children. His publicist said the newlyweds have much in common, including a love of singing, adding that he has never seen the actor happier.
