'I'm not sure yet if she's changed my life': 'Thrilled' Hugh opens up about baby girl

March 19, 2012

Hugh Grant has opened up about becoming a father. The British actor gave a rare interview to The Guardian newspaper in which he discussed the excitement of having a daughter and revealed the name he and the mother have chosen. Hugh became a daddy to a little girl in September 2011, after a "fleeting affair" with Chinese actress Tinglan Hong.

He told the newspaper that he is finding it exciting getting to know his baby, though he was told not to expect much at first. "Lots of people warned me about that; they said never let anyone know, but the baby period is not that exciting. "But I am excited, actually. I thought, well, I'll bluff through – but very little bluffing has been required. "Hugh chose his daughter's English name, Tabitha, whilst Tinglan chose a Chinese name, which has not been revealed. He added: "I like my daughter very much. Has she changed my life? I'm not sure. Not yet. Not massively, no. But I'm absolutely thrilled to have had her, I really am. And I feel a better person." He also spoke of the pride he feels when holding his little girl. "Yesterday I took my daughter to see my father, who's in hospital, and all the nurses were cooing over her. And I felt, well, pride."
