'No one is safe from the slime': Halle gets covered in goo

April 2, 2012

"No one is safe from the slime," Will Smith promised the audience at the Kids' Choice Awards. "You have to earn the slime! It's an honour."

If that's the case, Halle Berry should feel very privileged indeed – the actress was one of the first celebrities to be doused in the fluorescent green goo at the ceremony.

Will promised a record amount of slime at the LA event – and he delivered.Much to Heidi Klum, Justin Bieber and Taylor Lautner's amusement as they also got caught in the crossfire.

The show began with I Am Legend actor Will making an elaborate, digitally-animated skydive from Nickelodeon's trademark airship. He was then dropped on to the stage of the Galen Centre at the University of Southern California, where thousands of glow-stick waving fans cheered him on – including first lady Michelle Obama.

Mrs Obama later presented an award to Taylor Swift recognising her charity work. "I am freaking out," said the country music starlet.

"This is, like, the coolest award show ever," enthused Twilight heroine Kristen Stewart, accepting the award for favourite movie actress.

The awards are Nickelodeon's annual celebration for youngsters, and the ceremony is often the most-watched children's programme of the year in the US. More than 7.3 million watched last year's show.

Winners are chosen from online voting. Selena Gomez won for both favourite TV actress and female singer.

Adam Sandler took home the award for favourite movie actor, while Katy Perry snagged the gong for favourite voice in an animated movie for her part in Smurfs.
