One Direction make waves in Oz as they continue world domination

April 10, 2012

After conquering America, One Direction have touched down in Australia, where they are continuing to cause pandemonium.

The British boys - Louis Tomlinson, 20, Zayn Malik, 19, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, all 18, were relaxing on a yacht in Sydney Harbour after being greeted by scenes of hysteria at the airport.

Hundreds of screaming fans were waiting for the group, who were escorted by security into a waiting car. The boys are taking time to relax before setting off to conquer Oz. They're no doubt hoping to recreate their success in the States, where they proved a massive hit. As well as a successful mini-tour, they also had high profile appearances on The Today Show and Saturday Night Live, where they did a skit with Modern Family star Sofia Vegara.

They also made history by being the first UK act to top the charts with their debut album.

Comparisons with the Beatles have been coming thick and fast for the boys, who also won themselves a high-profile fan in the form of Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter Katherine.

Although two of the band have girlfriends – Liam is dating dancer dancer, Danielle Peazer and Louis is with model and student Eleanor Calder – the rest are single, including Harry.

The Cheshire-born singer's representative has denied reports he is dating US singer Lily Halpern.
