Peaches Geldof and her musician fiancé Thomas Cohen are the proud parents of a baby boy. The daughter of Live Aid founder Bob and the late Paula Yates announced the arrival of Astala on Twitter, writing: "Yes, it's true- I'M A MUMMY!!!!" Peaches, 23, later updated her Twitter profile with: "My little boy is the most beautiful thing in this world. When he holds @tomfromscum's finger with his hand it's the sweetest thing ever. X"
The couple also released a statement saying: "Peaches and Thomas are delighted to announce the birth of their son Astala. Both were overjoyed at his arrival this week." Lead singer of band S.C.U.M, Tom, 20, posted on Twitter: "I'm a dad he is the most perfect thing ever so proud of his beautiful mum @peaches_g and overcome with joy x."
In an exclusive interview with HELLO! earlier this year, Peaches said she felt her mother, who died of a drug overdose in 2000, was watching over her after she discovered the baby was due on her birthday, April 24. She added that her former Boomtown Rats frontman father was "overwhelmed" when she told him on Boxing Day that she was expecting a baby boy. "Oh my God, he was so happy, especially as I'm having a boy," she said. "The poor man's been surrounded by women up till now. I knew he would be happy but I didn't realise how over the moon he would be. He's always been very supportive of me but he was really overwhelmed and emotional." She said her dad offered the young couple advice, telling them they must get married and "never break up".
