Paris Jackson: My father's death 'never gets easier'

June 6, 2012

On June 25, three years will have past since pop superstar Michael Jackson passed away, leaving behind his music legacy and three beloved children. Now, his daughter Paris has revealed to Oprah Winfrey that the pain of his loss still casts a shadow over her life.

"It never gets easier." the 14 year-old says in a clip for Oprah's Next Chapter which airs on Sunday to commemorate the late singer.  The chat show host is also seen asking if Paris' father wanted her to have "a normal life." Since the King of Pop died in June 2009, his children – once so protected by the star – have gradually been eased into the public eye. Paris is even embracing a career in show business, having secured a starring role in the upcoming fantasy film Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys.

Her aunt Janet Jackson recently revealed she had reservations about her blue-eyed niece's foray into film. "We've spoken about the fact that you're only a child once," she told Prevention magazine. "I think there's a time for everything, and now is not the time to act in films. I told her I thought she should enjoy being a kid, possibly go to college - or not - but wait till she turns 18." Janet and the Jackson clan care for Michael's three children, including his two sons Prince Michael and Blanket. His mother, Katherine, was awarded permanent custody in August 2009.

The family matriarch has been a pillar of strength since her son died after taking a lethal dose of the anaesthetic propofol. In November 2011, she watched as a Los Angeles court convicted the singer's physician, Dr Conrad Murray, for causing his death. "Four years is not enough for someone's life. It won't bring him back but at least he got the maximum. I thought the judge was very, very fair and I thank him." she said.
