Nearly a year after tying the knot to Kris Humphries in a lavish ceremony, Kim Kardashian has opened up about her failed marriage. The reality TV star talked to Oprah Winfrey about how she was left depressed and in a fragile state after the short-lived union ended after only 72 days.

"I was in such a deep depression I thought I was going to back away from everything. I stayed at home for almost four months and I'm a better person now, as heartbreaking as it was to go through," she said on the two-part special for the US TV Queen's OWN network. The 31-year-old star also denied the relationship was a publicty stunt. "I was in love, I wanted the life that I always pictured my fairytale life to be. Once we moved in, I knew he was not the one. I loved him, obviously it hurt him, and it hurt me too. It was embarrassing, I don't want to call it a mistake, it was a lesson," she admitted. "He's a good person. I will always have a place in my heart for him. It just wasn't for me. "Kim has since moved on and is currently dating rapper Kanye West.

She spoke openly about the Gold Digger singer and admitted that she likes the fact that he is older than her.

"I feel like I've had an epiphany. Before, all my boyfriends were younger. I always dated five years younger. My whole thing was completely different," she told the US talk show host.

"I love that I'm with someone who's a couple years older than me. I love that my friends are sometimes even 20, 30 years older than me. That I can just enjoy their company and their experiences", she added.
