Danny Boyle swears 60,000 to secrecy over 'magnificently bonkers' Olympic ceremony

Danny Boyle, the man who found beauty in the ghettoes of Mumbai, has done it again. The Oscar-winning film maker treated 60,000 fans to a stunning preview of the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, which was described by one viewer as "splendidly British and magnificently bonkers".

 The Slumdog Millionaire director also pulled off another trick – he managed to get every last one to keep their lips sealed about the details of the £27-million spectacular. He secured their co-operation by displaying the hashtag "SaveTheSurprise" on giant screens around the stadium, which began trending on Twitter immediately. Some snippets had previously filtered out about the ceremony, which is titled the Isle of Wonders, and is inspired by Shakepeare's The Tempest.

Team GB

Our 'green and pleasant land' is being recreated, complete with real sheep and cows, as well as a live cricket match and gritty representations of the Industrial revolution.As excitement was building ahead of Friday's show, the Team GB athletes arrived in the Olympic village, to be welcomed by Princess Anne and past Olympians such as Dame Kelly Holmes and javelin heroine Tessa Sanderson.
