Back in May, Kristen Stewart was supporting Robert Pattinson as he introduced audiences to his new film, Cosmopolis. Three months later, the actor's latest round of promotions for the David Cronenberg flick is looking very different.
Sporting designer stubble, a dapper suit and – most importantly – flying solo, Robert spent his first appearance since news broke of his girlfriend's "momentary indiscretion" with a married man fielding questions about her. When the 26-year-old heartthrob was interviewed on US programme The Daily Show, he tried to keep things strictly business. But host Jon Stewart offered his guest some Ben & Jerry's ice cream to cheer him up, joking they were "just a couple of gals" chatting about a break up.
When the presenter added that two people going through a break up sometimes feels like the end of the world, Robert agreed curtly: "It is".
He then attempted to make light of his heartbreak, saying: "I didn't hire a publicist and (for) awkward interviews, most actors have things scripted. I'm going to hire a publicist."
After recording his segment for the show, the star headed over to the Museum of Modern Art for his film premiere. Despite the turbulence in his personal life, Robert was showered with attention by his adoring fans, and spent time signing autographs, telling them: "Thank you, guys, for being here."
