Some of hip-hop and r'n'b's biggest names gathered to mourn the loss of Chris Lighty on Wednesday.

Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot,P Diddy, Q Tip, LL Cool J, 50 Cent, Lauryn Hill and Grandmaster Flash came together to say goodbye to their beloved friend.

The rap mogul, 44, was found dead in his apartment in the Bronx, with a gunshot wound to his head. The coroner ruled the death to be suicide as the star was suspected to be suffering from personal and financial problems in relation to his divorce.

Those in attendance passed by an open casket to pay their respects to the music maestro, before watching a slideshow depicting his life.

Rapper Grandmaster Flash said he wished the manager had reached out to him in his hour of need.

He said: "Whatever the pressure was that made him take his life had to be tremendous pressure. I just wish Chris would have reached out and said 'Flash, I need some help man.' ... He didn't reach out. It's really sad."

Beginning his career as a disc-jockey, Chris then went on to establish his own record company, Violator Management, in the late Nineties.

He then managed music stars such as Mariah Carey, 50 Cent and LL Cool J, and was known as a world-renowned industry professional.
