Salma Hayek looked as stunning as ever at the closing ceremony of France's Deauville American Film Festival in a dramatic black fishtail gown. But the actress was upstaged on the red carpet by her cute daughter Valentina
The youngster, who turns five this month, looked excited to be accompanying her mum to the event wearing a pretty white sundress and cork-heeled sandals with bright orange straps. The actress was also snapped with her husband, François-Henri Pinault at the event. Earlier the whole family attended a photocall for Salma's new film Savages, which also stars John Travolta. In the new thriller she plays Elena, the leader of a Mexican drug cartel who kidnaps a woman named Ophelia, portrayed by Blake Lively. Valentina hasn't just been learning about her mum's job as an actress. The 46-year-old star has been educating the little girl about her Mexican roots.
"I have taught my child to embrace her Mexican heritage, to love my first language, Spanish, to learn about Mexican history, music, folk art, food, and even the Mexican candy I grew up with," said Salma. She made the comments after it was reported in a magazine interview she had admitted having few memories of what it is to be Mexican. "It saddens me when my words are lost In translation and taken out of context to hurt the people of Mexico, whom I love," she said of the interview.
