When Strictly Come Dancing sweetheart Holly Valance wed property magnate Nick Candy in LA at the weekend, she gave new meaning to the term fairytale wedding. The happy couple footed a bill which is said to have cost £3 million by the time the last champagne cork was popped. The bulk of the tab was due to the presence of singer Katy Perry, who was reportedly paid £1.2 million to serenade guests such as Nancy Dell'Olio, Simon Cowell and artist Tracy Emin under the dusky Californian skies.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and their mother Sarah, Duchess of York, gave the proceedings a regal touch. While the champagne flowed, and the finest canapés tickled A-list palates, the couple said their "I do's" on a raised platform shaded by trees. Holly was a vision in her cascading £35,000 J'Aton dress complete with an extravagant train, and shed tears of joy as she made things official with 39-year-old Nick – who has an estimated fortune of £155 million.
The emotion of marrying her beau was preceeded by four days of celebrations, the highlight of which was a private screening and welcome party for Holly at Paramount Studios. Her nearest and dearest – including mum Rachel and best friend Stephanie McIntosh – had secretly recorded a version of Prince's classic hit The Most Beautiful Girl In The World. The bride's tears flowed when she was presented with the homage.
