X Factor viewers were in for another shock this week as the judges went to deadlock again over who would stay on the show.

As boyband District 3 and soulful songstress Melanie Masson battled to keep their place in the competition, Gary and Nicole voted to keep Melanie on the show, whereas Louis and Tulisa voted to keep the group in the contest.

This meant it was up to the public vote to decide who would still be singing. And sadly for Melanie, Dermot revealed she would be the second contestant to leave the X Factor.

Mentor Gary, who has now lost his second act, was very upset to see Melanie go.

He said: "For me, Melanie is one of the best singers in the competition. I'm so disappointed."

Although the result wasn't favourable for the Take That star, there were no further dramatics between the judges.Gary and Louis shook hands, seeminly putting an end to the controversy surrounding the eviction of Caroylnne Poole last week.

Former contestant Rebecca Ferguson livened up the live show with a performance of her new single Backtrack on Sunday. Confessing that Ella was her favourite contestant, the lovable Liverpudlian wore on a striking gold catsuit, and completed the look with large bouffant hair and a new blunt fringe.

Taylor Swift's exciting performance of anthem We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together was a sure-fire winner on Sunday's show.Opting for her trademark demure look, the singer let her song do the talking as she opted for a jaunty hat, black high-waisted shorts and a simple purple jumper. The track now has the biggest digital sales for a single by a woman in history.
