The countdown begins as Daniel Craig promotes 'Skyfall'

The countdown has begun for next Friday's release of the new James Bond film, Skyfall, after Daniel Craig stepped out on Monday to promote the new film. The 44-year-old star was joined by Bond girls Naomie Harris,Berenice Marlohe, villain Javier Bardem, and director Sam Mendes for a photocall at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York.

For the ocassion, Naomie Harris, who plays a field agent named Eve, lived up to her sexy Bond girl image in a stunning black minidress by Marios Schwab and black leather stilettos.Meanwhile, her co-star Berenice Marlohe opted for a military-inspired coat.The French actress, who portrays a "glamorous enigmatic" character named Severine, teamed her garment with brown suede boots, featuring leather detail.The new James Bond production, which opens to the public on Friday, October 26, is the twenty-third installment in the franchise.

The film's release will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the series, which began with Dr. No in 1962. Daniel Craig recently confessed he gets "a huge thrill" out of playing the suave secret service agent. "It's like a schoolboy thrill, you know," Daniel said. "That is about being an action hero on top of a train, which is, like I said, so far removed from who I am. But I'm getting to sort of live out a few fantasies."
