Bond is back – well, almost. Daniel Craig and co warmed up for the grand opening of Skyfall – the latest outing in the 007 franchise – at a photocall in London. Daniel looked to be in double-o-heaven as he posed with Bond Girls Naomi Harris and Berenice Marlhoe.
Also at the promo event was dapper Bond baddie Javier Bardem and Judi Dench, who is given more screen time than usual in the new movie as 'M', the Head of Secret Intelligence Service. The cast will be out in force on Tuesday evening for Skyfall's premiere in London. And they will receive the royal seal approval for the new film – the 23rd Bond movie and Daniel Craig's third outing as the super spy.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will attend after Charles asked for the screening to support charities that help members of the three intelligence agencies - the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), the Security Service (MI5) and GCHQ. Critics have hailed the new effort as one of the best films in the 007 series, and director Sam Mendes has promised fans a thrilling experience.
"As the movie progresses, it gets more epic," he says. "I loved the scale of it. I think there is a possibility that I put everything I've ever wanted to put in a Bond movie into this movie." Producers, meanwhile, say Dame Judi's performance in the film warrants an Oscar nomination – which if given would be the first time a Bond film has garnered a Academy award nod in an acting category. Skyfall opens nationwide in cinemas on Friday.
