Fright night for 'X Factor's Rylan as he celebrates birthday with Halloween bash

October 25, 2012

Known for his flamboyant style and great sense of fun, X Factor star Rylan Clark was not one to shy away from the cameras on his birthday night out. The star celebrated his 24th with his fellow contestants, as well as judges and reality TV stars - partying in style at London's Mahiki nightclub at a Halloween-themed bash.

Excited for the event to take place, Rylan tweeted: "So it's my big birthday party tonight and turning 24 tomorrow!!! How unreal to have my birthday with all my friends old and new xxx."

Looking happy in the company of his pals, the singer dressed as a spooky American football player. He wore a shirt inscribed with the number 78, sporting shoulder pads and showing off his toned midriff. The star completed the look with white hair, fake blood and dark shadows around his eyes. His best friend from the competition Lucy Spraggan arrived arm-in-arm with her partner in crime. The 21-year-old brunette, who got through to the live shows after impressing judges with her self-penned song Last Night (Beer Fear), opted for a more traditional costume option - stepping out as a pumpkin.

Rylan's fellow competitors were not far behind the duo, with the majority opting to dress up for the Halloween birthday fun. Boyband District 3 were seen in devil costumes, which were padded to give them a more muscular frame. Union J also turned up in matching attire, donning zombie male nurse outfits with lots of fake blood for effect. Former chimmney sweep Kye Sones got into the spirit of things in a black cloak complete with a Frankenstein mask and fake hands. He was joined by lovable musician-turned-dracula James Arthur, in a black cloak with frilly lace cuffs. Cheeky scouser Chris Maloney opted for the funny option as he entered the club in a frilly nightie and mask, representing Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother.

Abandoning their position of responsibility for the night, X Factor judges Tulisa Contostavlos and Nicole Scherzinger let their hair down as they partied with their mentees. Tulisa was the image of a vampire maid in a black and white dress with fake blood and scary fangs, whilst Nicole opted for a sexy Rocky Horror Picture Show look, with a red and black PVC bustier and fishnet stockings.

Although Jahmene Douglas, Melanie Masson and last week's evictees MK1 joined in the celebrations, the budding singers opted for casual attire. The up-and-coming artists were joined by The Only Way Is Essex reality stars - curvy beauty Gemma Collins and Harry Derbridge were also spotted at the club.

It seems that the night was a great success, with many of the X Factor hopefuls tweeting about the birthday fun.

Union J tweeted: "Happy birthday Rylan Clark! Hope you enjoyed your birthday party last night. Lots of love, George x."

District 3 also enjoyed the celebrations, and said: "Great night last night! Thanks very much Rylan Clark."
