Desperate Housewives kiss series goodbye with memorabilia auction

Hit TV series Desperate Housewives is going out with a bang as memorabilia from its eight-year stint on the screen goes up for auction.

The US show, which detailed the lives of friends Susan Delfino, Gabrielle Solis, Bree van Der Kamp and Lynette Scavo on Wisteria Lane, went on to win six Emmy awards, two Golden Globes, and two Screen Actors Guild awards in its hugely popular run.

The auction, entitled Kiss Them Goodbye, is being run American channel ABC in conjuction with VIP Fan Auctions. Showcasing artefacts such as as signed scripts from the pilot and finale episodes of the show, a Gabrielle Solis Emilio Pucci dress and a Susan Delfino collectable drawing set, fans are scrabbling to get their piece of the show's history.

Prices for the remaining artefacts on eBay range from just $24.99 to $280. Fans have also taken to Facebook to share their fond memories of the programme, which ended on May 13 in Britain.

One said: "Desperate Housewives is and always be one of the best things that has ever came into my life, I've been a massive fan since 2004 and I will love it forever."

Although the characters may have shared a close relationship on set, the series was not short of off-screen tension. Nicolette Sheridan, who played Edie Britt, filed to sue Marc Cherry and the American television channel $20 million, alledging wrongful termination, assault, battery, gender violence, discrimination and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria all pledged to support the writer and director, and the case was dropped in 2012.

Housewives

Since the show wrapped up, the cast have embarked on a series of different ventures. A-lister Eva Longoria is currently promoting Barack Obama's US presidential re-election, and has appeared in a series of promotional videos as well as being a keynote speaker in the Democrat Party conference. Teri Hatcher has opted for the quiet life with daughter Emerson Rose, and has upped sticks to Canton, Georgia.Meanwhile, Marcia Cross has also returned to her family values, and has been spending her time off tending to twins Savannah and Eden, aged five. Felicity Huffman, however, is keen not to let her acting career slide, and will be appearing in threatre production November, as well as participating in a self-titled show on network TNT. The actress, who is married to William Macy, also posts YouTube workout videos and runs site www.whattheflicka.com, filled with advice for women and mothers.
