Rocker Ronnie Wood's new fiancée, Sally Humphreys, has revealed details of their engagement after news broke on Tuesday that the couple had become engaged.Sally has confessed that the former hellraiser asked his future father-in-law, 66, for her hand in marriage. The Rolling Stones star, 65, is set to wed theatre producer Sally Humphreys, who is 31 years his junior.Sally, 34, has been dating the twice-divorced guitarist for six months and the couple have known each other for nine years.
"It is true and we're both very happy," she told the Press Association.Asked how Ronnie proposed, she said: "We've known each other for a long time. My parents were down for the Crossfire Hurricane (Rolling Stones documentary) premiere and he asked my dad around then. Then he asked me. But I knew it was on the cards because we'd already talked about it. "Talking about the nuptials, she said: "The wedding will be very simple, nothing big or flashy, and we haven't set a date.""There's no problem with the age difference. I can understand why people would have a problem with it but it doesn't seem to cause any problems. We get on very well. He's very funny and very talented. There's the Ronnie that everyone thinks that they know and the very talented artist and musician. "A spokesman for the guitarist also confirmed: "Ronnie is engaged to Sally."
Ronnie, who has battled addiction to drink and drugs, split up with second wife Jo, 57, in 2008, after he left his wife of more than 20 years for 21-year-old former cocktail waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.Ronnie's other serious girlfriend was 32-year-old Brazilian model Ana Araujo (pictured below). But they split in October 2011 after two years together, with friends saying they were prone to arguments. "I'm like Picasso, painting up the ladder after leaving his mistress at the bottom after a row," he said at the time. Sources said Ronnie preferred to stay at home, while Ana like to go out to social events, and this often lead to disagreements. But although they went their separate ways the pair are still friends – Ana moved into a flat in just a few doors down from Ronnie's house in Holland Park.He told the Telegraph: 'She's moved in two doors down from me. She's become the neighbour from hell. I'm joking, of course. We're friendly and everything, but she wants me to go round and visit the dogs and stuff. She is a bit nutty, but I quite like that about her. I seem to go for that sort of thing."
Ronnie's new woman is different, according to his stepson Jamie – Jo Wood's son. "It’s good for him because he needs someone a bit more like my mum – someone more solid – and that's what Sally is. "She's a nice girl and we’ve known her for years. She's been a friend of dad’s for a long time, but she always had a boyfriend, which I think held him back. But now the boyfriend's gone, they're free to be with each other. "She's not his type, that’s the unusual thing… That's great because she's exactly what he needs. He's getting a bit old now."
