Suspicions were raised when they appeared at LAX airport wearing what looked to be matching wedding bands – now Evan Rachel Wood and Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell have confirmed the happy news that they are in fact man and wife. The True Blood actress shared her joy on her Twitter page, writing: "Words cannot describe the happiness I am feeling. Overwhelming." In another tweet, she added: "Song of the day '(today I met) the boy I'm gonna marry'."
Evan and Jamie, who have tattoos of each other's initials, tied the knot on Tuesday during a small ceremony in California with only family and friends present. The bride wore a gown by Carolina Herrera. According to website Radaronline North Carolina-born Evan and Jamie collected their marriage licence in mid October. "Evan and Jamie were at the Beverly Hills City marriage licence office around lunchtime today," an eyewitness told the website on October 15. "I had to do a double take as at first I didn't recognise them. They looked like any other young couple in love. They were just waiting in line like regular people, holding hands and at one point Jamie leaned over and kissed Evan – they certainly looked excited and happy." The couple (pictured above on their last single outing, at a Gucci film and arts gala) were rumoured to have got engaged in January, though Evan denied it when she was spotted wearing a diamond ring. She posted on Twitter: "Sorry to disappoint, but I have been wearing that diamond on my left hand since I was 14. It was my aunt's. Any engagement rumour is false." Whether it was a story to throw the press off the scent is unclear, but Jamie, who hails from County Durham in the North East of England, was spotted last December shopping for rings.
The pair's paths first crossed in 2005, when they filmed a music video together for Green Day's Wake Me Up When September Ends. They dated for a while, but split up. A source said of the time: "Evan and Jamie were really young and just getting going in their careers when they first met and they just weren't ready. Now that they are older and both excelling in their professional lives, I think they feel ready to take their relationship to the next level." Evan went on to date rocker Marilyn Manson, getting engaged to him in 2010. It was not meant to be, however – the pair split seven months later and 25-year-old Evan reconciled with Jamie. The British actor rose to fame playing a North east schoolboy with a passion for ballet in Billy Elliot and has gone on to Hollywood films. His film credits include Jumper opposite Hayden Christensen and Samuel L Jackson and The Adventures of Tintin.Evan has also been acting from an early age, making her debut as a teenager in 2002 film Little Secrets. A year later she was nominated for a Golden Globe and SAG trophy for her performance in Thirteen. More recently, she had a recurring role in True Blood as vampire Queen Sophie-Anne Leclerq and had a role in Mildred Pierce with Kate Winslet.
