November 5, 2012

Kye Sones was eliminated from the X Factor after a deadlock saved controversial contestant Rylan Clark once again. Kye and Rylan had a sing off after the pair received the least amount of votes from the public. But the four judges could not reach a majority on who to boot off the show.Judge and Rylan's mentor, Nicole Scherzinger, voted for the Essex boy and praised his rendition of Des'ree's Kissing You. "(Rylan) not only brings light, energy and fun to the show but after that performance you bring art to the show."

Fellow judge Gary Barlow, who has never hidden his dislike for Rylan, said he clearly preferred Kye' performance of I Won't Give Up by Jason Marz. "This is very, very simple, I'm sure everyone at home agrees, the sing off was completely won by Kye tonight," said Gary, who mentors Kye. "Rylan I've enjoyed your fun in this competition but when you're put next to a real singer, you just do not compete."

Louis Walsh said Rylan proved that he could really sing but said he preferred Kye. Louis said he was "going to do the right thing" and vote to boot off Rylan.Judge Tulisa Contostavlos, who had the final decision to make, said the sing off showcased one of the best performances by both singers. "When it comes down to it...it's not just the singing competition, it's the X Factor," she said. "The act that I look forward to seeing each week is Rylan. "I've got to go with my heart I'm sorry, the act I'm sending home is Kye." Kye lost in the deadlock, which is decided by the lowest number of public votes.

The two contestants weren't the only ones that went head-to-head on Sunday night as judges Nicole and Tulisa battled to win in the style stakes.

Nicole, 34, looked stunning in an eye popping nude Bibi Bachtadze lace dress and skyscraper platform shoes. Meanwhile, Tulisa opted for a Kruszynska Couture dress with black and white lace and three quarter length sleeves. She completed her look with peep toe Kurt Gieger shoes and a sleek side ponytail. While the girls were equally matched fashion wise, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh both made a style statement with their outfits. The Take That star looked dapper in a two-piece woollen suit with a Prince of Wales check on it, which he wore with a white shirt, skinny black tie and a pair of loafers. Louis Walsh, on the other hand, surprised with his velvet blazer.

Earlier in the evening No Doubt and Rita Ora entertained the contestants and the judges with their incredible performances.Former guest judge Rita Ora, dressed in a crocheted catsuit, performed her new single Shine Ya Light. No Doubt took to the stage as the second guest act and performed Looking Hot.Following their acts, Gwen said of James Arthur performing their song Don't Speak: "It was really awkward but it was amazing , he did amazing."
