An exotic location, atmospheric venue, and star-studded guest list were at the top of Naomi Campbell's wish list when she sat down to plan a colossal birthday bash for her Russian boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin. With a bank balance that reportedly teeters just shy of $1 billion dollars, Naomi's billionaire is used to the best, so his lady didn't disappoint when it came to organising his lavish celebrations.
Now, anticipation is building as final preparations are tweaked and the great and the good jet in for the party of the year. Kate Moss and her husband Jamie Hince have been spotted arriving to enjoy the good times with Naomi, who is one of the model's oldest friends. Staff at the venue have been pouring their efforts into assuring that every detail is just right. On the big night, the fortress will be bathed in pink and yellow lights, and test runs have already been lighting up the night sky. A dazzling fireworks display has also been rehearsed. Naomi chose an atmospheric fort in Jodhpur, India to mark Vladislav's 50th year. The 15th century Mehrangarh castle is steeped in history and was the very place that Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayer had their own traditional Indian wedding. The entire estate has been hired out as an exclusive playground where the couple and celebrities like Kate, Bob Geldof and Sarah, Duchess of York will have freedom to party in style.
In the courtyard, Diana Ross will serenade guests under the balmy skies for the tidy sum of £500,000. Singers, models and royalty will all be hosted in the many rooms of the fortress, whose spaces remain true to traditional Rajasthani culture and are swathed in sumptuous textures. However, there was room for one quirky detail – Naomi and Vladislav are depicted as Bond stars in a portrait hung in one of the main rooms. It's clear that the star wants only the best for the man she once described as "a sweetie" and "very special". More than four years into their union it's clearly the real thing between the catwalk queen and her property mogul beau. They've been inseparable since meeting at the 2008 Cannes film festival, with 42-year-old Naomi becoming increasingly smitten – and serene.
Their loving, stable relationship has certainly had a positive effect on her. Newspaper stories of her anger management issues are a thing of the past. These have been replaced instead by headlines about her charity work together with her friend, Gordon Brown's wife Sarah, and another unexpected connection in the form of Turkish leader's wife Emine Erdogan, with whom she bonded over their interest in girls' education on a past visit to Istanbul.
