It was Skyfall's time to shine again on Wednesday as Mr Bond himself, Daniel Craig, was named British Artist of the Year at the Britannia Bafta Awards. And his loving wife Rachel Weisz was by his side to offer her leading man a congratulatory kiss.Althought Daniel walked the red carpet alone, the couple were seen eating together at the gala, held at LA's glamorous Beverly Hilton hotel, which also honoured big Hollywood actors such as Quentin Tarantino and British star Daniel Day Lewis.
Since the Skyfall world premiere, attended by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Daniel has travelled the globe with his co-stars to promote the film. For the gala he stepped out looking as suave as his secret agent character wearing a smart black tux and elegant bow-tie.Not to be outdone by their fellow 007 cast member, Naomie Harris and pulled out all the stops. Naomie wore a striking black gown and completed her look with a deep purple lipstick and slicked her hair to one side. French actress Berenice, glittered on the red carpet in a show stopping gold dress, with a plunging neckline and high collar. The 33-year-old also sported a perfected smokey-eye look and wore her hair in a stylish up-do.Speaking about gaining her role as sultry Bond girl Severine, Berenice revealed: "I feel I've been connected to the Bond universe for a long time. A lot of people for many years would tell me, 'Oh, you should be a Bond girl,' so when I heard they were doing auditions for Skyfall I searched out for the contacts of the people involved in the casting. I managed to find Sam Mendes' agent on Facebook."
Skyfall's director, Sam Mendes, was also in attendance happily standing with the cast that have earned the film rave reviews from industry critics. And for the fourth time, Scottish actor Alan Cumming was the evening's host. The 47-year-old is no stranger to the 007 franchise having starred in Goldeneye as the villainous Boris Grishenko to Pierce Brosnan's James Bond.
Alan stood out in a bright red suit and black bow-tie, smiling as he made his way into the hotel. "It's 15 years since I first came to Hollywood" he said, "and what better way to commemorate that than to be hosting a celebration of the best of British and Tinseltown." He added: "I'm excited to see old friends and raise a few glasses to the best in our bunsiness - and be a bit mischievous too of course."
Among the gala's award presenters were legendary director Steven Spielberg, Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford and ER actor Josh Gad. Proceeds from the evening, which is to be screened for the first time on BBC America, will support BAFTA LA's ongoing education, scholarship, outreach and archival projects.Steven, who directed Daniel Day Lewis in his latest blockbuster Lincoln, presented the London-born actor with his award. Daniel plays the title character in the film which is a biographical war drama about American president Abraham Lincoln. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field also star in the movie, which due to hit cinemas later this year.
