Newlyweds Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have been keeping a low profile since their surprise wedding in September, but the couple made a rare public appearance together on Sunday to attend the ATP World Tour Finals at the 02 Arena. TV presenter Cat and Irish comedian Patrick seemed to be enjoying their afternoon date as they were spotted laughing and looking adoringly at each other whilst watching the men's singles semi final between Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina.
The pair, who were joined by singer Will Young on the front row, posted a picture of themselves on Cat's Twitter account. The caption read: "Anyone for tennis?!?!?" The 36-year-old also posted a picture of her new husband playing table tennis.Fans were surprised when Cat's ten-year friendship with Patrick Kielty turned into love and the star recently revealed the reason behind her change of heart. She told the December issue of Red magazine: "I told him I was having brunch with friends here at the Beverly Hills Hotel. He got on a plane to London, then another plane to LA, then he came straight from the airport with his bags, walked in, sat down and had birthday brunch with me.
"And then, when I went to pay for everybody, they wouldn’t take my card because it had all been taken care of. That’s quite possibly the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me. And he was just sitting there hanging out with 12 of my friends, making everybody laugh. It was romantic, noble, kind of amazing and pretty hard not to fall in love with him. "And nine months later, the couple surprised everyone again by marrying quietly in Rome. It's thought that the bride wore a ruffled dress, with flowers in her hair. Meanwhile, her 41-year-old groom was dashing in a black suit. They tied the knot in St Isidore’s College Church, with Patrick's parish priest Father Gary Donegan officiating. Such was the secrecy surrounding their big day that some guests only learned about the wedding at the last minute.
At the time, an insider revealed "It was a beautiful ceremony, just close friends and family.
We only found out at the last minute. It was a really perfect day. They've been pals for ages and we all just wonder what took them so long."
The British TV presenter has been radiating contentment since they were first linked after holidaying in February. Soon afterwards the funnyman moved into her Beverly Hills Mansion, and rumours of an engagement began to circulate. These were denied, but it was clearly serious as Patrick hinted last year that it wouldn't be long before he had a ring on his wedding finger. "I think that might be my New Year's resolution... to get married," he said.
