After a four month wait, Spanish siren Penelope Cruz finally unveiled her 2013 Campari calendar on Tuesday night as she attended a cocktail party in Milan to launch her latest venture. The actress dazzled in a long one-shoulder Giorgio Armani gown in burgundy silk cady. The gown, specially made for her, featured a soft drape detail on the hip. She completed her look with a classic side do, dark eye make-up and deep red lipstick. The 38-year-old brunette features in 13 stunning images with the theme Kiss Superstition Goodbye.
The star can be seen posing with black cats, broken mirrors and surrounded by ladders as she enjoys a cocktail by the renowned brand. Talking about the project, she confessed: "The theme itself is intense, captivating and chic. "She also said she enjoyed the photo sessions and found the "issue of superstitions very intriguing and stimulating. As an actress, they often pose challenges to me of describing the indescribable, and this photo shoot was no different. We created a character who had to show a strong and positive attitude, and really get to the heart of each superstition and dissipate these myths by promoting confidence."
For the shoot, Penelope wore gorgeous crimson dresses and shoes from Italian designers, including Emilio Pucci and Salvatore Ferragamo. She is the 14th star to feature as the face of the world renowned calendar, other stars include Salma Hayek, Eva Mendes, Jessica Alba and Milla Jovovich.Photographer Kristian Schuller said of the shoot, "Photographing the 2013 Campari Calendar is simply incredible and a totally unique challenge. Campari has a history of creating powerful and visually-stunning imagery, both in its advertising campaigns and the Calendar."
"My intention was to continue this story of success by pushing the boundaries even further which I feel we have achieved. It is magnificent to work with someone as talented as Penelope, who truly embodied the theme for the latest edition of the Calendar by bringing her flair and versatility to the set." Although in the calendar Penelope flirts with superstitions that are said to bring bad luck, 2013 is shaping up to be a good year for the actress. Her sister Monica Cruz is expecting her first child and is due to give birth in the spring, making Penelope an aunty for the first time. The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress, who welcomed her first child with husband Javier Bardem in 2011, recently spoke out about motherhood: "It's everything you've heard about, but it's so many other things as well," she said during an interview with the Brisbane Times. "From the moment you have a child everything changes, everything. You look at the world in a completely different way through your child's eyes. The way he looks at the sun and the moon and the stars, and the way he is so impressed by nature, he is really making me reconnect with it. "She continued: "It's true that you revisit your own childhood. It releases things that you thought you had forgotten."
