Come home to Brad Pitt with pieces from his luxurious furniture range

November 14, 2012

Stunning images from Brad Pitt's foray into the world of furniture design show the A-lister – somewhat unsurprisingly – has a taste for the luxurious. The actor teamed up with designer Frank Pollaro to create their own line, and the key pieces are characterised by some exquisite craftsmanship. Standouts from the 20s-inspired modernist range include a statuario venato marble bathtub, stingray skin bedding, and steel and glass tables which defy geometry. The collection's website describes them as being "designed by Pitt, built by Pollaro".

The range was fashioned from some of nature's most sumptuous materials including the striped patterns of Macassar ebony, and the rare, tropical bark of Ceylon satinwood. Naturally, the best doesn't come cheap, and fans who want to come home to a piece of the Hollywood heart-throb will pay handsomely for the pleasure. Co-designer Frank said prices are "typically at the highest end of the custom-furnishings scale, and these are up there, even north of that". But, he adds, eventually certain pieces may be adapted for larger-scale production, in different materials. "The same chair we charge $45,000 for might sell for a fraction of that," he says.

Brad, who is engaged to actress Angelina Jolie, has had his furniture aspirations in the pipeline for some time, recently telling Architectural Digest: "I've been doodling ideas for buildings and furniture since the early 1990s, when I first discovered [Charles Rennie] Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright. Actually, I found Wright in college, when looking for a lazy two-point credit to get out of French. It forever changed my life." Although that change is now coming to fruition, the father-of-six is coy about his new hobby and hesitates when asked how he feels about being called a furniture designer, cautioning, "Let's not get ahead of ourselves." For his part, Frank predicts their synergy is just the beginning, and is accordingly ambitious. "I think we'll be doing this for a long time," he says.
