The show goes on for Nicole Scherzinger after grandmother's funeral

November 16, 2012

A sombre Nicole Scherzinger was spotted emerging from the Tamarind restaurant in London on Thursday night, following a very tough week. The X Factor judge had just returned to London after attending the funeral of her grandmother in Los Angeles. The 34-year-old originally found out about her grandmother's passing before last Saturday's live show, but initially decided to stay in the UK to support her boys – Rylan Clark, Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur.

The Coconut Tree singer tried to hide her sadness on X-Factor, but viewers witnessed Nicole break down in tears after District 3, who were voted off the show last week, performed Eric Clapton's emotional song Tears in Heaven. As she wiped tears from her eyes, the star hinted at her personal tragedy when she said the track was rather poignant for her. Following her work commitments, the ex-Pussycat Doll then made her way to Los Angeles on Monday morning, supported by her Formula 1 racer boyfriend Lewis Hamilton. The couple were pictured walking hand-in-hand through the airport.

The pair's show of unity comes after they rekindled their romance earlier this year following a brief break-up. They split up last November after four years together, blaming the strain of barely seeing each other due to hectic schedules.

The break-up was said to have affected Lewis considerably, and this, combined with poor results  and incidents on the track meant the 26-year-old cut a forlorn figure for a number of weeks. Speaking publicly just days after their separation Lewis said: "It's very early days and we still have very strong feelings for one another. I still love her very much. So, who knows? Maybe we will be together in the future."

Thankfully, his prediction turned out to be accurate This has been a very busy year for Nicole, due to her role in X Factor, buand a slew of public appearances such as when the brunette modelled the UK's first ever 'Twitter dress' to launch EE – the new 4G mobile network. The 34-year-old's haute couture digital dress was created from 8 metres of the finest French silk chiffon, laden with over 500 Swarovski crystals and over 2,000 LED lights, which lit up to spell out tweets sent in real time by fans throughout the evening.
