Broken hearts and tears on 'I'm A Celebrity' whilst Helen Flanagan triumphs

November 19, 2012

I'm A Celebrity's contestants were left broken-hearted when they were split into pairs to function around the camp. With just four days until the first live eviction, the stars turned competitive as they rushed to pair up with their favourite celebrity to wear coordinating heart lockets to complete tasks in a pair. Nadine Dorries was left in the dark after Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts rejected her company for the company of the MP's arch rival, Hugo Taylor. Linda Robson and Charlie Brooks, however, decided to team up for less conventional reasons as they admitted that they would not mind being the first to leave camp.

The most unmatched pair of the group came in the form of David Haye and funnyman Brian Conley, who had shared a spat over the camp fire on Friday. Showing off his boisterous side, David decided to kick two burning logs out of the fire grate, which greatly alarmed Brian. Leaping from his seat to place the burning logs in a bucket, the 51-year-old exclaimed: "No, that's a fire and fire's dangerous!" David failed to see the point, however, and told the star to just "throw the logs" over the back, which would have only tempted the dry land around them to burst into flames. It was Brian who burst into tears, however, as David joked that a "bush fire might spice things up", leaving him to flee from camp and confide in his friend Colin, who consoled the comedian.

Sharing a hug with his friend, Colin got analytical in the bush telegraph video diary booth. “David being David was unrepentant. He is very beguiling and funny but he is a force of nature and the end result was that Brian went off upset,” said the actor. Far from ashamed of his tearful outburst, Brian told Made In Chelsea star Hugo Taylor that they "were real men" because of their emotional honesty. Although he was taken aback by his campmate’s outburst, David admitted that his sporting background had left him unequipped to deal with outbursts. Speaking to the bush telegraph, the sportsman said: "Brian was next and I could see he was upset and he's a big grown man and that's quite unfamiliar. I'm in a very masculine sport. Very 'grr' sport. So the people that I am around a lot of the time don't show their emotions. What do you do? It's a new situation for me." It was Helen Flanagan who finally put the tears to bed on the show, as she put her emotions aside as she celebrated a shocking Saturday night victory in her bushtucker trial. Receiving a series of groans from her fellow contestants for taking part in every single trial with no stars to show for it, the actress was given the opportunity to prove herself in front of her team mates on the live challenge. Putting her heart palpatations aside, the star placed her head in a perspex box that was filled with creepy crawlies, snakes and other outback uglies as she navigated her way around a maze to collect stars. Securing the full twelve stars for the team, Ant McPartlin was left in a state of shock as he asked: "Who are you and what have you done with Helen Flanagan?"

The star jumped for joy, and elatedly exclaimed: "I've never been so happy. I've never been so proud of myself ever. I feel on cloud nine."
