One of pop music's angels is making a move to the other side of the artistic track; Halo singer Beyonce Knowles is set to make her directorial debut when 2013 rolls around. US television network HBO announced they will be collaborating with the star, airing an intimate documentary which will be to Beyonce what I'm Going To Tell You A Secret was to Madonna – an insight into the her love, life and work.
Announcing the venture HBO said: "Directed by the superstar, the film is a fusion of video that provides raw, unprecedented access to the private entertainment icon and high-voltage performances." The channel's head of programming, Michael Lombardo, added: "Everybody knows Beyonce's music, but few know Beyonce the person. "Along with electrifying footage of Beyonce onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman".
The mum-of-one is thrilled about showing the other side of her persona to the world and thinks HBO is the perfect partner for the project. "This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home" she said following the official announcement. Beyonce's personal voyage – set to be aired on February 16 – will see her discuss her family's influence on her stellar career, and will document her return to the stage after giving birth to baby Blue Ivy. The exciting project will come hot on the heels of the star's performance at the Super Bowl. The songstress is due to set the stage alight at the NFL Halftime Show on February 3, confirming the news herself with a post on her website. "Countdown to Touchdown" she wrote, with a glossy image of the Super Bowl's date daubed on her face. Mrs Jay-Z's busy start to 2013 is just the latest addition to a packed schedule as the Crazy In Love singer seeks to perfect the balancing act of juggling work and home commitments. When she and her husband welcomed Blue Ivy in January, the new parents described the birth as "emotional and extremely peaceful" and "the best experience of both of our lives". The proud dad also welcomed his new bundle of joy to the world with a song called Glory. Referring to his little girl, the rapper touchingly sings that "my greatest creation was you" before the track ends to the sound of a baby – thought to be his daughter – crying.
