Heidi Klum helps out with Sandy aid relief hours after partying with Santa

December 3, 2012

She could have been forgiven for wanting a nice lie in, but instead Heidi Klum was spotted up with the larks after the end of her belated Halloween party to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy. The German supermodel looked bright-eyed and fresh-faced as she helped distribute supplies to those left in need due to the natural disaster. Hours earlier she had been snapped partying with Santa Claus at her annual bash, which this year was postponed after the superstorm devastated New York at the end of October. It was the first time fans got to see her spectacular Cleopatra costume in all its glory – complete with her jewelled face mask, which glittered with hundreds of Swarovski crystals.

On Sunday morning the 39-year-old cut a very different figure, dressed down in a black quilted coat with fur collar and matching leggings and boots, to help out. She was working with AOL, Patch and The American Red Cross in Seaford, which is in the Nassau County of New York state. Heidi seemed in her element as she got stuck in with aid workers and local emergency service workers, and was happy to pose for pictures as the group went about their work. Dancing the night away at her Haunted Holiday party clearly hadn't taken its toll on the 39-year-old. She was spotted at the bash in high spirits sitting on Santa's knee and giving him a peck on the cheek.

She had to make do with the festive companion in the absence of her new boyfriend Martin Kristen, who did not attend the party. Celeb watchers were hoping the two might make their red carpet debut at the bash, but the blonde beauty's former bodyguard stayed away. Heidi recently told TV host Ellen DeGeneres that she is "very happy" in her new relationship, but it seems the couple are not ready for PDAs at high profile events just yet. She did however joke that she may have to create a costume for next year inspired by the move The Bodyguard, in which Whitney Houston's pop star character falls for the man who she employs to protect her. She confessed to Ellen: "I've actually watched that movie since [I started dating my bodyguard]. I had to!" Instead the Project Runway host attended solo for the first time in eight years - without being accompanied by her estranged musician husband Seal. The pair split in January after admitting they had "grown apart".Seal used to love dressing up for Halloween as much as his wife. Last year he donned a monkey suit so the couple could dress as a pair of playful primates. In previous years he has joined her in being a crow and a futuristic robot. Although the German beauty tried to keep her new romance under wraps at the beginning, since going public she has spoken highly of her new man. She told TV host Katie Couric: "He's been with our family for the last four years. He's cared for our entire family, mostly for our four children, helped us tremendously. I trust him with my children's life. He's a great man, you know, and we just got to know each other from a completely different side."
