It's been a while since Kate Winslet and boyfriend Ned RocknRoll have been snapped together in public, so both made sure they looked the part as they took their romance on the road once again. The shimmering lights of Hong Kong provided a glamorous backdrop for the couple as they attended the Longines Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin racetrack. Kate was appropriately dressed for her day out with a figure-hugging red dress and gold fascinator. By her side Ned –who is the nephew of Virgin mogul Richard Branson – looked dapper.
On the course, Hong Kong jockey Matthew Chadwick triumphed in the 2,000-metre race and later shared his success with his A-list audience – presenting Kate with a bouquet of flowers and a warm hug. If fans haven't seen much of the Titanic actress and her beau together lately, it's probably because they are busy with a stateside move. In September, Kate's publicist confirmed that Ned had enticed the star back to Britain from New York, where she'd been living for several years with her two children, Mia,12, and Joe, eight. At the time, her rep told the Daily Telegraph: "I can confirm that Kate has moved back to the UK and that she and Ned RocknRoll are now living together." The 37-year-old has reportedly bought a 15th-century house in a hamlet in West Sussex for £2 million with her boyfriend.
Kate and Ned have been inseparable since they met at Richard Branson's idyllic Caribbean hideaway, Necker Island. Part of the attraction for the actress is clearly her blue-eyed boy's fun-loving approach to life. Formerly Ned Abel Smith, he changed his name by deed poll in 2008 to Ned RocknRoll, "as a fun reminder to make sure every moment of every day is spent wisely and enjoying life". Their union came a year after Ned, who works at Virgin Galatic – his uncle's space travel project – split from his wife, aristocrat Eliza Cowdray. He is now a crucial part of Kate's life and has brought her happiness following her divorce from the Oscar-winning film maker, Sam Mendes, who is the father of her son Joe. The blonde also previously split with Mia's father Jim Threapleton back in 2001.
