Oscar winner Kate Winslet has sealed her love with fiancé Ned RocknRoll, tying the knot in a ceremony so secret that not even the couple's parents knew about it. The 37-year-old star married Ned at an intimate do in in New York earlier this month with just a handful of guests present. Among those there were Kate's children Mia, 12 and eight-year-old Joe, and her Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, who is said to have given her away.Kate's spokesman confirmed the happy news, revealing that the couple had been engaged since the summer. When questioned about the wedding by the Sun newspaper, Ned's father Robert said: "It's not something I know of - but nothing would surprise me with those two."
Kate and Ned have been inseparable since they met at his uncle Richard Branson's idyllic Caribbean hideaway, Necker Island. This was shortly after Kate had split with her model boyfriend Louis Dowler. Part of the attraction for the actress is clearly her blue-eyed boy's fun-loving approach to life. Formerly Ned Abel Smith, he changed his name by deed poll in 2008 to Ned RocknRoll, "as a fun reminder to make sure every moment of every day is spent wisely and enjoying life". Their union came a year after Ned, who works at Virgin Galatic – his uncle's space travel project – split from his wife, aristocrat Eliza Cowdray. He is now a crucial part of Kate's life and has brought her happiness following her divorce from the Oscar-winning film maker, Sam Mendez who is the father of her son Joe. The blonde also previously split with Mia's father Jim Threapleton back in 2001, meaning this is her third time down the aisle.
Kate's first love was actor Stephen Tredre. She dated him for five years and described him as "the most important person in my life, next to my family". He tragically died of bone cancer aged 34, soon after she finished filming Titanic. In September there were clues things were getting serious between Kate and Ned, when the star's publicist confirmed her boyfriend had enticed the actress back to Britain from New York, where she'd been living for several years with her children. At the time, her rep told the Daily Telegraph: "I can confirm that Kate has moved back to the UK and that she and Ned RocknRoll are now living together." The blonde beauty reportedly bought a 15th-century house in a hamlet in West Sussex for £2 million with Ned.
