British treasure Dame Helen Mirren has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The lady herself looked thrilled as she went along to see her acting legacy immortalised in Los Angeles. Elegant in a blue dress and matching suit jacket, the 67-year-old actress beamed as her director husband Taylor Hackford and his two sons looked on proudly. The Oscar winner – who was decorated for her role in The Queen – found herself next to another thespian who had been inspired by the British monarchy.

Her fellow actor and friend Colin Firth is her closest neighbor on the Walk Of Fame, and he too impressed the Academy with his performance in The King's Speech. The irony wasn't lost on Dame Helen who joked about their proximity, saying: "I couldn't be prouder and more happy that I'm actually going to finally lie next to Colin Firth, something I've been wanting to do for a very long time.  "I think it's very good for the British monarchy that, here on Hollywood Boulevard, the King and the Queen are going to actually sleep together, for the rest of history." The ceremony was presided over by playwright and director David Mamet, who recently worked with the lady herself on a biopic of music producer Phil Spector. Introducing her he said: "Helen's performances reap higher praise than being praised," before concluding that her screen outings were "loved."

The critics casting nominations for 2013's impending awards season certainly seem to agree, and Dame Helen is set to add another cross to her Golden Globe bow.  This time, she is flying the British flag after playing Alfred Hitchcock's strong-willed wife in Hitchcock. Having been put forward for the role, she now lays the foundation for her fourth Golden Globe, which she last snared in 2007 for her work on The Queen.
