Lily Cooper is celebrating after adding another child to her family. The singer gave birth to her second baby with husband Sam Cooper this week, and the couple have apparently called the baby - a little girl - Marnie Rose.The baby shares Lily's middle name Rose, and pals said the first name was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's 1964 film Marnie.
The singer expressed her gratitute after congratulations flooded in over Twitter. she wrote: "Quite overwhelmed by all the well wishing going on. THANKYOU everybody x x x" The Twitter message is an unusual step for Lily, who didn't officially confirm this new pregnancy or the birth of her first daughter, EthelAccording to the Sun, Lily gave birth on Tuesday, meaning the new arrival has the same birthday as two of her mum's musical icons, David Bowie and Elvis Presley. A source told the paper: 'Marnie is a real cutie. Sam and Lily are ecstatic about adding another girl to the family. A little sister for Ethel is brilliant news to lift the January blues for the family.By looking at her Twitter last week, It's clear the star was more than ready to get things moving and welcome the new arrival. She posted on January 4: "3rd curry this week... cosywomb," clearly using the traditional method of spicy food to try and get labour started.Reports began to circulate in the summer that Lily was pregnant again, and that the Who'd Have Known singer had been for her three-month scan. This was when Ethel was just eight months old.
There was no official announcement from the star or her other half, painter and decorator boss Sam, but Lily's dad Keith Allen spoke on their behalf. He simply said: "Yes, she is pregnant," during an interview on This Morning. The couple are overjoyed about the new arrival. They previously suffered heartbreak in 2010 when Lily lost a baby six months into a pregnancy. She also had a miscarriage in 2008 when she was dating Chemical Brothers DJ Ed Simons. Lily wed Sam in August 2011 during a traditional country wedding held in Gloucestershire. There was a surprise under her lacy dress by French designer Delphine Manivet – the bride was four months pregnant with baby Ethel. The singer has described Sam as a "normal bloke" and "the love of my life". She added: "Sam treats me differently. He’s told me he’ll look after me forever. That's what I've always wanted."
